Meaningful Parenting- Dear Son, today is your first day of school... PART 1

'Get back to my womb'; my heart cried as my little boy stepped out of the house for his first day of school(well actually a play school). He was in tears, and so was I. He kept screaming for me as I dropped him in arms of his teacher and I kept sobbing from within to have him back to myself. I heard him say - 'Mamma, Mamma' ...wreathing in his teacher's arms and my heart got nailed thousand times. There were some 20 kids in that playgroup and so much of noise all around. I purposely kept myself hidden from him and watched from a corner. He was crying still. And then one teacher took him towards the slide and yeah...a little smile came up. It was like thousand raindrops on my bruised heart.

Dear Sonny boy,
I know it's so difficult for you amidst all strange people and in this strange world. It's unnerving and scary. But we need to take some steps in life. It is designed that way, and your schooling is one of them. There are few things that I want to share with you today which will stand by you as you charter your journey. These are the armors that will help you in this first step and from here on all the steps that you take in life.
Will this armor save you from all challenges life throws us? NO.
Will this armor ensure you are always protected and safe? NO.
This armor shall only give you the strength to face the odds. But face you must for therein lies the beauty of this very LIFE.

IT'S NOT HOME; IT'S OKAY TO FEEL SCARED-  New, unfamiliar situations and people have a way of unnerving us. Why do we feel afraid? Because we are not sure how the world will respond to us. Understandable. But what do we do then? Do we sit back thinking that about the fear or do something about the fear?
Fear is everywhere. That would stop you from learning how to paint, from playing scorer and from making new friends. Fear shall stop you at every step. Do we stop?
Whenever and I mean it from my heart and soul- Always do what you are afraid to do because overcoming what frightens you the most strengthens you the most.

WRITE YOUR BEST 'A'- Do not look at what other's are writing or what others are not writing. Set your own standards and a high one. And by that, I mean...write your best A.The best that you are capable of. Not better than others or the best in the class. NO.
Just the best A that you can write with all your capability and passion. And from there on...you be your own comparison. Try to get better than before not better than others. Because the comparison game is a futile one. There will always be someone who is better than you and someone who is not. This race is a rat race where at the end you are still a rat. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

THE BUBBLE GAME- I guess the 'bubble game' was difficult for you. Your teacher was blowing those beautiful, sparkling bubbles and all children ran for it.In the process, somebody pushed you, and some got pushed by you. Some got the bubbles and cried in glee, and you kept running behind to catch one, but none came in your hand.Hmmm.
That's okay- not every bubble will be yours. This world has a crowded place and resources are scarce. People jostle to make their way to reach their chosen harbor... the bubbles. In this process, many a push and many a pull will happen. When you don't get that coveted bubble, smile in defeat and praise the one who got.  Hold on to the experience of going for that bubble for it's not only about 'results.' Don't miss out on the experience part. The process Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. And remember what Albert Einstein said-“You never fail until you stop trying.”

ALL KINDS OF- The classroom is going to be full of all sorts of children. There will be children who will love you, want to be your friend, and you will experience happy times with them. They will be your friends and will make you feel valued. You should make them feel the same way. Love grows when shared.
There will be others who will alarm, bother and confuse you. Others may also frighten, trouble and unnerve you. And some might even appall and afflict you. What do you do then?
Do you give back to them what they gave to you? NO.
Do you let them trample over you? NO
You have to stand up for yourself every time. Remember that. That's important. And standing up for yourself doesn't mean an eye for an eye for that will make the world blind.Stand to protect yourself. But choose kindness over the hurt. Your classroom is but a small group. The world outside is full of kindhearted people and if you cannot find one, BE ONE.

SHARE YOUR TIFFIN- Share your color pencil if your classmate has forgotten to bring his. Share your food if another classmate forgot his. Share because that's the way you show how truly you care for that person. Share because it will make you feel truly happy.

RESPECT FOR YOUR TEACHER- Some teachers would be very loving to you, and some would be a little strict. Some will give you lots of homework, and some will let you play in class too. Some will draw with you, and some will ask you to draw. Some will inspire hope in you, and some will instill love of learning in you. Do not settle for anything less that sheer respect for them for what they are imparting you. There won't be any school without teachers.

CHOOSE ONE SPORT AND ONE CREATIVE PURSUIT- Apart from your academics, choose one sport to play. Sports is fun, it would keep you physically active and mentally agile, and it inculcates a sportsman spirit in you. A creative pursuit in life is a must. Be it singing, writing, playing an instrument, painting or dancing; a passion gives you a bigger purpose. It will keep you joyfully occupied and will help you in calming down, regaining your composure whenever you feel weak.

..No COMING BACK- Today is your first day of school. Likewise, there are going to be many firsts but no looking back. The beauty of life, unlike films, is that it is an onward journey. It has no stops and no U-turns. And that is why it becomes crucial to make use of every moment a worthwhile one for you cannot return to it. You only move forward. So here I say a little pray for your well being at school. It isn't going to be easy, but trust me, you will sail through. That is the art and beauty of growing up and becoming your own person. But this mom of yours will experience tremendous pain in her heart. She will keep standing, hidden in that corner holding her aching heart and seeing you walk, your steps away from her womb. My love for you shall always be there and will keep growing with each passing day. And if there is such a thing as rebirth, then may the Lord gives me 1000000000 rebirths and may you be my son ALWAYS..Ever since you left my womb, I am surviving without a heart.:) Good luck.May God be with you. I am so proud to be your MUM. Mamma. For every thousand lies, there will be one truth which will overpower. Stay on the side of truth.
